The department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Fatima Jinnah Dental College and Hospital aims at teaching and training students and residents to perfection in this field. This is accomplished by patient care and emergency services. Training under supervision encompasses the areas of scientific research, dento alveolar surgery, maxillo-facial trauma management, maxillofacial pathology, reconstructive procedures, local and general anes-thesia and sedation. Prescription writing with proper dosages of analgesics and antibiotics with their indications and contra-indications are also taught to the students. The department has recently been revamped, increasing and improving the facilities with the addition of new surgical area and dedicated operational theaters to meet the surgical needs of the increasing patient pool.
