- Life At FJDC
Fatima Jinnah Dental College has embarked upon an ambitious and sustained relief and rehabilitation effort extending over the next 3 to 5 years in the earthquake effected area.
At the onset of the 8th October, 2005 earthquake disaster in the Northern Areas of Pakistan & Azad Kashmir, the college responded spontaneously and teams of faculty members and house officers visited and performed in these areas, supported by donations in cash and kind by the students and well wishers.
The college has now embarked on a plan of setting up of a “Village of Hope” in Mansehra that would house 400 orphaned children and 100 destitute women as “Mothers”, complete with housing, clothing, schooling, food and health facilities for the next 3 to 5 years. This is being done in collaboration with IMET (International Medical & Educational Trust) The UMICPT (University of Missouri International Center for Psychosocial Trauma) would visit the Village of Hope every three months to address the problem of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) in these children.
The team from University of Missouri, Colombia and IMET (USA) officials is visiting the college on Wednesday, 5th April 2006. A “Shelter” which forms the Village of Hope would also be on display. Kindly make it convenient to attend this function at 11 a.m. on 5th April 2006, at the pre-clinical campus, Bhittai Colony and support this effort of the college.
